Full Day Workshops
The “ART” of Proposal Writing –A one-day grant writing workshop.
The workshop is structured to be both of benefit to those in the early stages of their career with little practice in preparing successful grant applications as well as provide a strong platform of more detailed understanding and in depth approach techniques for the more experienced researcher. Although potentially useful the workshop assumes some prior experience and is not intended for the absolute novice. Its generic nature means that it does not consider prospective grant funding opportunities.
The workshop is divided into 4 sessions of between 1 and 1.5 hours each. Sessions 1 and 2 progress through the techniques, best practice protocols, do’s and don’ts behind the structure of a successful bid. Sessions 3 and 4 take the theory into practice with worked examples, case studies and interactive live content building. All exercises are optional but have been developed through experience to provide significant supplementary training practice and personal understanding.
Session 1. – Introduction and General Approach to Writing a Grant Proposal.
This evaluates and presents key insights into the fundamental approach principles behind a successful grant application and develops the essential common elements of a successful bid.
Break – Includes 10 minute assignment exercise
Session 2 – Theory and Practice – Optimising the approach
This builds from session 1 detailing the “in depth” structure of a successful bid, the need to present and optimise the supporting arguments and justifications required and how to achieve this.
Break – Lunch – including further assignment exercise
Session 3 – Building the Case for Funding – Case studies and examples
Using both examples and worked illustrations this puts theory into practice covering most of the common pitfalls and provides the tips, tricks and techniques for optimising your proposal within minimum space.
Break – including 10 minute assignment exercise
Session 4 – Theory into Practice – Interactive assignment analysis and workshop discussion
With analysis of both previous cases and volunteered assignment exercises this primarily “Q & A” workshop session provides an important consolidation taking live examples through the optimisation process using the skills and techniques acquired throughout the day.
This workshop is quite intensive and can be split into two subsequent half days if required.
2 Day Workshop:
The above can also be extended into a more comprehensive “Academy Master Class.” Two-day workshop enabling additional insights and practical experience of the grant application process and how to approach it.
Please note that all workshops longer than 3 hours require access to computer facilities for each attendee and each will need to bring their own laptop computer.
